An Operating System is the software that interacts with the hardware of a computer and is the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Identical to a personal computer, web hosting servers also have an Operating System which serves as a host for any software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host Operating System.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting
In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a wider choice for the system environment on the server as different apps could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and secure hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you've selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you want to run. We can also update your OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
